ANIMAL SCIENCE 1 & 2 (PA)

Examine the body systems of food and companion animals and explore the behavior of animals. Lab sessions are designed for hands-on learning and emphasis will be on skills needed in the livestock industry.

Apply and practice the skills it takes to care for animals in a veterinary setting. Evaluate animals and perform clinical, hospital and surgical procedures.

Prerequisite(s): Placement Coordinator Approval and AG Science Program of Study Agriculture Science Program of Study students volunteer or work in a paid position in the ag science field. Individuals will use Canvas to document their work experience (hours, timecards, etc.) and complete reflections of the learning and experience. Maximum of 3.0 credits can be awarded towards a diploma. 65 hours = ½ credit.

Occupational Survey is a prerequisite course for all shop programs at SHS. Students will have a general introduction to the automotive, welding, wood shops. Course content includes safe practices, basic skills and fundamentals of equipment operation.

Metal Fabrication is a course in which students will learn marketable skills and knowledge related to cutting and welding applications. Course content includes safe practices, progressive levels of skill building in different welding processes, a wide variety of extended skill sets in mechanical applications, project fabrication, employability skills, and career readiness.
METAL FABRICATION 2A & 2B (PA)

Metal Fabrication 2 builds on the skills from Metal Fab 1 and collaborates with industry partners, allowing students to fabricate for local businesses through our partnership with SEDCOR. Students may have opportunity for employment from their collaboration projects and the opportunity to earn piece work wages.
